Story time. About two weeks ago I was contacted through the blog by someone who liked my spade— you know, the one in the hexagon in the blog’s header? He’d asked if he could use it as a logo, which I had to decline since that specific spade is so prominent on the blog, and it’s a personal favorite of mine. I was then asked if I could make something else for him to use. And of course I had to say yes! Logo? Spade? Black and white? How could I say no? This is what ended up being the final product:
The client wanted something similar to the original spade, so I tried to take my original concept with the lines in the center and make it edgier, sharper. I like to think this new one is in the same “family” as my original. I’m quite proud of it. Originally the base was diamond-shaped, but later was changed to a traditional base.
I think this marks my first commission for a client that I didn’t personally know– most of the stuff I’ve done was for friends and acquaintances. I’m very proud of the way it turned out. It was a fun project, and I hope I get to do more stuff like this in the future!
